Legion have, against all advice, produced a music video. Created with a budget of £20, 2 smoke machines and tongues planted somewhere in the vicinity of cheeks. Despite the fact it has been months since the Hereafter EP was released and the band are, in fact, about to embark on the release of a completely new record we thought enough of you would enjoy this to make it worth releasing into the public domain.

New review of The Hereafter EP in Belgium Webzine Dark Entries

Original review in Dutch/Flemish (you'll have to forgive us, our grasp of languages is not what it should be)

Here's our translation...

Self-published ... what a sin! Because this Legion from Leeds (!) with this “Hereafter” EP effortlessly rank
among the better representatives of the new Old School Goth Rock style. When you see the cover, you think but of
one name: The Sisters of Mercy (Body and Soul). Don’t they also come from the university city of Leeds? Indeed
they do.

Legion cannot hide where they’re coming from, but more importantly, the 5 songs that are presented here attest to
their ability to create an air of aloof mysticism, but also melodious guitar compositions that are easy to dance to,
which every lover of gothic rock is bound to enjoy. Not bad at all. This is gothic rock as we love it, and, moreover,
excellently done. To buy, go to one of the web adresses mentioned below and
tell them you were sent by Dark Entries!

Below is a review of the Hereafter EP by Static Magazine, translated into English with a little help from some nice heartlanders

The original German article can be read here

Leeds is located in the north of England and is one of the most productive cities in the country. Approximately 761 000 people live here, and three of them, let me introduce you. Maisey (vocals), Natya (guitar) and Shelly (keyboard) in England already well known as Legion. They've played on stage with bands like Vendemmian, The Last Dance and The Eden House though, and this is probably the most remarkable, the band have only been playing live since 2008.

Clear 5 songs they present us to your first EP "Hereafter," which is available since 2010, and which I now you even want to imagine in detail what is on five songs do not really difficult. They present us five neat songs on their first EP "Hereafter", available since 2010. I want to introduce them to you in detail, which is not that difficult with only five songs. Already the titles of the songs show that someone has spent thoughts on the lyrics and didn't just want to evoke mainstream melancholy.

The opener "Spectre" is an instrumental piece that gives us an almost two minute taster of what will follow, which is a dark penetrating guitar sound with a mixture of melancholy and a brilliant lead voice.

"Premonition" shows us immediately the place that Legion fill: dark Gothic rock reminiscent of Mephisto Walz, The Cure and Bauhaus, coupled with lyrics that encourage reflection and an invite into a dark and unknown world in which we can swing dance properly.

"Queen of Hearts", however, sounds a touch darker and more dramatic, which can be read in the lyrics and if you listen to Maisey , you'd rather not know who caused him such heartache. The whole song is accompanied by a consistently hard drum, which in turn comes from the drum machine, which does not detract. At the first sounds of "Lust" it is already clear that it is a question of a new dance floor magnet. The song is accompanied by the singing of Natya.

But the absolute gold piece of this EP is the song "Hereafter". For me, after first hearing it clear that this is one of my new top 5 songs. Gloomy smashes the drum rhythm, Natya is such on the guitar that she could put male colleagues in her pockets, and Charles accompanied on keyboards gives the song something so extraordinary that I have not heard for a long time. It is these factors make it unique and Legion probably explains why you were so often on stage.
Believe me, if you find yourself on the dance floor and this song plays, you'll wish it would never end for you will lose yourself completely in a world of yearning, dramatic but also knowledge.
One is simply clear, England is currently the hotbed for new bands that definitely pave a new path on which fans of Goth rock will feel at home, makes you so on the way and you care of "The Hereafter EP" of LEGION.

Legion News 12/04/10

We'd like to issue a massive thank you to everyone that made this weekend's show such an enjoyable one. It was great to see so many people in the audience, both friends and new faces alike - we hope you all enjoyed yourselves as much as we did.

As always, cheers to Pyromancer for driving. Thanks to Frank Flag for putting on such an excellent festival and for asking us to play in the first place.

A big thanks to Stella for being looking after those members of the band and crew that remained in London in the Gotham aftermath (because by 5am the next morning we probably weren't in a state to look after ourselves!).

If anyone has any decent photos, Please feel free to get in touch.

We look forward to returning to London to do a few more shows later on in the year. Until then, keep the faith.

Firstly, a huge thank you to every last one of you who came to either the Leeds & London G Fest gigs, we had a really good time at both shows.

Cheers especially to Dave Vendemmian, who put in a shed load of work to make it all possible, especially in London. Thanks also to Luxury Stranger, Rhombus and the whole of Vendemmian, who all put in a lot of work to make a success of the weekend and all put on great performances.

As a nice extra, we got some good quality footage and audio from the London leg, which may surface at some point in the near future.

2009 has been a very good year for Legion. The belief that so many people have showed has been astounding and touching, thank you all for your support. There are a great many specific people who we owe a great debt of gratitude to.

As those of you at G Fest will know, we handed out some previews of our newly recorded material - which is going to be pressed up nice in a nice and shiny package for all those that want it (possibly some new T shirts as well).

We wish you all a very happy 2010, keep the faith.

Maisey, Natasha, Shelley & Tim.

A few places have already mentioned this news, but I'd like to just confirm that G-Fest was my last gig with Legion, and I have stepped down from playing bass guitar. There is no sinister conspiracy at work here, it's simply that between my full-time job and full-time degree, I simply don't have the time for Legion that they really need, especially now they're going from strength to strength. Rob has graciously allowed me to keep involved through the website and you'll see me at plenty more gigs - details of which will be coming up on the live page.

Thanks for all the good times. Let there be many more!
Cheers

Legion News 23/08/09
Greetings all We've uploaded some "bootleg" video footage from our recent concert in London supporting Rhombus and The Eden House, at our MySpace. The song is called Hereafter and will be available on the new CD planned for release towards the end of September.

The footage was shot by DJ Pyromancer. More videos from the same, and from previous concerts, can be found at Youtube

The band have recently gone back into the studio and are working on selection of new songs that we plan on releasing to the world on the aforementioned CD.

In related news, we're currently in the process of setting up a webshop, which will be going online in time for the release of the, as yet untitled, forthcoming CD. Copies of our demo EP "Veiled In Mist" and the new "Smoke Machines, Drum Machines, Amphetamines" T Shirt have been selling well at concerts and will on sale online alongside the new CD.

We're appearing live in concert over much of the north of England this Autumn, with several dates already announced. We also have plans for a return to London, alongside a very exciting lineup of other top class bands, more information on that excursion TBA.

Regards

Maisey

Legion would like to thank everyone that came to see us this weekend, both at The Giffard Arms in Wolverhampton and at Beyond The Veil in Leeds. We had two cracking nights and are still feeling great.
Special thanks to WildBillButtock and Lisa for putting us on at the Dark Room, Vendemmian + crew for being a smashing band and smashing folks. Another big thank you to Trish, Rog and Dom at BTV - it was a fantastic festival and we'd encourage everyone to try and get to any future BTV events. Most of all, a huge thanks to everyone that came along to either gig!

As for the future...

We recently started laying down some of our tracks and hope to have an EP released within the next few months. Its been hard work getting to this stage, but it's finally looking like our first release is within reach.
